Veteran Support Group Ballymena (VSGB)

The Veteran Support Group Ballymena (VSGB) formed in January 2023 to act as an organising and coordinating body for veteran support services within Ballymena and the wider community across the Borough of Mid and East Antrim. The VSGB is a membership organisation and is governed by a committee of 12 volunteers with a membership base of 150 members.

The VSGB recognise the importance of planning for the future to ensure that services, and activities can be delivered in a consistent, sustainable, well organised and effective manner. Building on the success of the formative years of the organisation the VSGB has developed the skills base, experience and expertise to take the organisation on to the next level in terms of the delivery of programmes, services and organisational best practice. VSGB continue to deliver a range of social, educational, recreational and health and well being programmes, all helping to meet the needs of members and lead to positive impacts.

A key element to the future success of the delivery of VSGB support services and activities for the veteran community across the Borough is the development of the Veteran Support Hub. We are delighted to now be in the position to shortly launch the new Veterans Hub based in Ballymena Town Centre. This Hub will provide a designated safe space for the Veteran community and offering a range of services and activities. VSGB will be working with a range of health professionals providing referral pathways for those veterans that require more intensive support, delivered within the Hub, additionally we will be able offer more softer engagement opportunities for veterans that just want to drop into the Hub and have a bit of craic and link in with others.
